Independent-Reviewer-Paul wrote a review Nov Poor Service. A restaurant open for custom, but no waiter or ability to gain attention until someone deigns to come back to see if you need something. Nice georgian buildings. Ambience poor. There's no one here. Yet no one has people here to offer a constant service.

Disappointing visit both building and staff urgently in need of an overhaul. The hotel is set in a lovely old building.

Unfortunately, the fixtures and fittings are threadbare and in some cases poor quality. The windows were in poor condition and draughty. Although the bedding and towels were clean, the carpets were stained in our superior room and there was dirt between the cheap glass covers on the cabinets and tables. The wiring and sockets looked old and ready for an upgrade for modern use, and there were lengths of dirty old cable coiled up in the corner of the room.

We could only access two tv channels. The staff were almost comically incompetent on checkin, and either disengaged or blunt to the point of rude at other times. Breakfast was horrendously old fashioned - like something out of the s - everything sitting lukewarm in a bain marie rather than cooked fresh, and those old Kelloggs multi pack boxes on the cereal table.

No quality cereals or granola etc. The waiter did bring out a bowl of croissants but they were raw in the middle and burnt on top. All in all, we expected something considerably better for the high price offered and this hotel should be overhauled as soon as possible to avoid further embarrassment.
